What are the limitations of working a job? I have learned and realized that it is not possible to get out of your current financial situation if you are just working a job. It just is not possible because with a job there are a few things that get in your way of becoming financially free to pursue your dreams and goals that you are passionate about. 1. There is a limit on how much money you can make.
Your boss will only pay you so much money for the services you do for his/her company because they still need to make a profit, which is the reason anyone goes into business. 2. You do not control how much of a raise you do get when the time comes to get raise.
If your boss can only give you a $1.00 raise per hour and you wanted a $2.00 raise per hour, tough luck either ‘take it or leave it!’ One time, while I was working for The Home Depot it was that time of year where everyone got a raise. I got a $ 0.50 per hour raise and was told not to be upset with getting such a small raise because store wide I actually got one of the higher raises at that time. One of my friends only got $ 0.15 per hour and it was that simple you either 'take it or leave it.' I knew of one person that actually left it because he thought it was an insult to get a raise that small.
In all the raises I got while working a job not one of them was ever for the amount that I wanted or thought was fair. 3. You do not control when the raise even comes if it comes at all.
After my first year of construction, I was told that because I was over paid when I got hired that I would not be getting a raise this year. Two years later when it was time for another raise (so I thought) I was told that money is too tight to do so. Some of you might have one of the few jobs that still give an annual raise each year and get it. Well, that is not the case right now for the majority of the working force.
In my 10 plus years of working a job not once was the raise when I wanted it to happen. 4. You have no flexibility when it comes to paying your taxes or how much you actually have to pay.
I won’t go into much detail on this subject for several reasons, but simply put. Everyone does have to pay taxes but there are two different tax systems. One is for employees and the other is for business owners.
Employees only have 4 categories from which they can use to make deductions and their taxes are taken out with every pay check. While business owners have over 140 categories which they can use to make deductions and they can pay their taxes several different ways weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly. That means they have more options with how they can spend their money to get the biggest return for it and pay the least amount of money in taxes. I like the business owner way better, how about you? 5. You do not control your time.
The way I look at it, your 50 or more best hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM plus commuting) of the week are spent helping your employer make more money, while you only have from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM to work on making more money for yourself. Don’t forget that you still have all your other activities and chores to get done as well, which for many of us it takes more than the 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM to get it done, and don’t forget about how tired you always feel after a long hard days work. Most people just want to chill out after work, they don’t want to then go and work some more.
I can keep going on and on about things that you as an employee just don’t control working a job but I think you got the point from some of the major things that you don’t control. “A slave is a person who has no rights and whose life is to serve his master in whatever capacity his master requires” – Pastor Raymond John
If you really take an honest look at your job and the role it plays in your life with how you make money, you are actually a slave to your job. Because you so desperately need the money from your job, you do and obey whatever is asked of you just that you can make a little bit of money to keep your J.O.B. (Just Over Broke).
Once I realized that there are so many things that I just can not control working a job, I had to figure out what is it that I need to do to gain control over my time and money, so that I can use them both for all the things that I am truly passionate about including helping other people. Upon knowing all of these things this is when I 'QUIT While Working' and really began my journey towards time and financial freedom.

What is QUIT WHILE WORKING? The short explanation of that would be when anyone who is working at a task or job and has quit mentally, but is still doing that task or job. Let’s take a deeper look at what is really happening here.
Believe it or not 80% or more of working people in this world are not happy working their current job. That is just reality, and it might actually be closer to 90% the way things are going now of days. The heavy majority of working people today, if you asked them or if you answer the question yourself, have something else they would rather be doing when it comes to Monday morning than going to their current job. All those that say ‘yes’to that have some other interest or passion that they would like to pursue, but unfortunately because they have to pay their bills and want to maintain their current lifestyle, they work at any job that has hired them that will cover their bills and keep them living at the lifestyle that they are currently living at.
I was working in construction for the last five years before I finally quit, and of those five years during the last two-three years I definitely ‘QUIT While Working’. I was there on the job, and I did my job very well to the point that I made myself irreplaceable. I always did my best to do the job exactly how my boss wanted it to be done, I never missed a day of work because I was sick, I always told the truth if it got me in trouble or not and I always kept learning how to do my job better each day I was there. In the beginning I loved my job. I really enjoyed building things. In fact as a young teenager I remember telling God that I wanted to build buildings. Little did I know at that time, this would become my reality. It was great! I was remodeling high end apartments in Manhattan, New York making a decent salary while doing something I always wanted to do.
Now while I was doing an excellent job working for my boss, I actually quit mentally. Why, you ask? Well, even though I loved construction it was no fun for me anymore because it was a job. By it being a job the fun of construction didn’t fulfill me anymore. Construction became something that I only wanted to do as a hobby.
Once it got to this point, I hated going to work. I would be quick to leave work and I didn’t want to do anything extra but my time and bounce. My co-workers always said during that time that I was very sluggish coming to work in the mornings and that I was quick as lightening at the end of the day when it was time to leave.
You see that was me. I ‘QUIT While Working’ and I am seeing countless numbers of people who are in that same boat. For me I know that there is more to life than just working a job that you don’t like. I knew I was created to do more than just work a job. I wanted to be able to help people out financially that were struggling, I wanted to break the chains of poverty over my life and those around me, I was tired of seeing people struggle and never get ahead in life, always falling behind year after year, seeing no way out of their situation, getting deeper and deeper in debt.
Does that sound like your financial situation? Have you ‘QUIT While Working’ already? Stayed tuned for my next entry as I will be talking about some of the limitations working a job has on your ability to make more money and have more control over your time in my continuation of 'What is QUIT While Working?' How badly do you really want change in your life? Are you sick and tired of working a 9 to 5 that does not pay you enough money to at least live comfortably? Have you already QUIT your job mentally and are on auto pilot doing just the minimum of what you are asked to do?
These are some real questions about where you are in your life regarding what you are truly passionate about and if you are willing to make the necessary changes in your life to achieve. Are you going to just sit there and let life pass you by and live an unfulfilled life or are you going to grab life by the horns and go after each and every thing that you are passionate about doing and fulfill your purpose?
Several years ago I made the decision that I would not let anything in my life stop me from achieving all the goals that I want to accomplish that are in my heart. For me my dreams is really in two parts.
One to be a millionaire not just so I would be rich but with the purpose of being able to help a lot of people because frankly I am giver and I can not help a lot of people significantly if I do not have a lot of money. So, I have a purpose in having lots of money which is not out of a selfish motive. Two I dream of owning a Major League Baseball Team one day since I came to the realization that I will not make it to the Majors by playing, owning a team seems to be the next best thing. Now, think about your dreams and goals. Are you willing to make the necessary changes in your life to achieve them? When I was twelve years old I remember being in a Bible study that my parents had in our house and someone who attended shared this quote with all who were there and I never forgot it. They said, 'That when the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change that is when people change.' Well I ask you is the pain of remaining the same greater in your life right now than the pain of change? Only you can answer that question and only once it is greater will you make the decision to change.
Since I made the decision to make the necessary changes, to make my dreams become my reality, I have learned a few things about what it takes to actually achieve them.
You have to be completely committed to going through the process of achieving your goals. Meaning that there are going to come times when you feel like quitting because it is too hard and the pressure is mounting where it feels like you can almost not take it any more. That is when you have to have an actual picture of your dreams and look at it again and remember why you are doing what you are doing and never lose focus of achieving your dreams because you can do it as long as you stay committed.
You have to have a mentor who can teach you the things that you don't know to achieve your dreams. This person can not be a friend because a friend will only tell you what you want to hear and not what you need to hear to change. There is so much information out there in this world that we are all on information overload and because of this we a need a mentor who can guide us step-by-step and direct us through all the nonsense that we don't need to know about and keep us focused on what is important for us to achieve our goals.
If you really want change and are unhappy with your life there are some specific things that you need to do to bring change and happiness in your life. Are you willing to make those changes? How badly do you want change in your life? Only you can answer that question. Visit www.QuitWhileWorking.com for more information.
Can you handle the Heat? It is getting hot in here, and somebody's whistle is about to blow. I see their forehead getting red, and steam coming out of their ears. Does that sound like you or someone you know?
Do you feel the pressure and stress of your job, time, or relationships? Well, this is a true test of where you are at when you are put in the line of fire or when you are getting heavy pressure from all those around and you have to perform. You have to come through in the clutch.
Just how with gold it needs to be put in the fire for everyone to see it's greatness, and value. So do you need to be put in the fire and be put under pressure to see your true greatness, but many times it is not our greatness that is seen. Many times we crack under pressure, and that is when we explode and burst out screaming and yelling. That used to be me at one time. I would hold all my thoughts and emotions inside and then one day when I was put to the test and was put under the pressure I snapped. I went screaming and yelling at anyone who tried talking to me. I lost it so bad that I couldn't even understand the words and sentences that I was saying as I lost my cool with those around me. Maybe some of you were in the same boat as me and can relate.
One time when I worked in construction as an electrician I was working on some live wires doing residential work and my boss decides to stand right behind me and watch my very move. It was hard enough that I had to be extremely careful not to make a mistake with the wires being live, but it was twice as much pressure with my boss right there ready to jump on me if I made a mistake and shorted out the line. That was not easy and a whole lot of pressure which made my nerves stand on end, but I couldn't loose my cool otherwise I would have a nice big spark in my face, which is not a pleasant experience.
This is what I learned since dealing with many pressure filled situations. For me to achieve my greatness and fulfill my purpose I have to truly perform and conduct myself at my highest level when I am put under pressure. I have to block out all of my emotions whether they be feelings of anger, anxiety, stress, or being annoyed if I disagree or if I am unsatisfied with the situation. I still can not loose my cool. No matter what happens. And most of the time the thing that helped me the most was learning quickly how to keep my mouth shut and not mouth off at the person that was making me feel the pressure. If you really want to be a very successful person in this world you have to perform under all kinds of pressure so that your greatness will be see to all and not your weakness.

Have you ever thought to yourself about how badly you wanted something, and what you were willing to do to achieve it? Would you let anyone, or anything stop you? Well, I don't know what you desire out of life, what your goals might be, or what you are really passionate about, but for me my goal is to be financially free where I can live a comfortable live, where I don't have to worry about money, and most importantly where I am in a position where I can help others out financially to the point that I don't have to even think about if I have the money or not. That is what I am striving for and what I desire to attain in this life. I believe that getting to that point where I can help many people out and not just bless them with some money, but also teach them how they can be in my position also is all part of my purpose here in this life.
With that being said, I look back on my journey and all the obstacles I had to push through, the lessons I had to learn, and all the money I had to spend. And it makes me think of the thing that kept driving me, and pushing me while I went through every situation. Some were easy, some took a long time, and most were hard.
Sometimes I would here people say, I would never be able to do that, or I could never be that good, or don't waste your time with those dreams you should just get a good union job and you will be set for life, but no matter what I kept pushing through. And the funny thing is that most of them were not really doing better than me at the time, they just happen to be doing it longer. So, I never really believed what they would say because I was not able to see any success in their lives with what they were trying to tell me to do.
Determination that was and still is one of the greatest keys for me achieving the success that I am starting to receive. It was a burning desire inside of me that would not listen to those who criticized me, my decisions, my way of thinking, and my desire to actually achieve my goals. Many times it was from those closest to me (including my family, friends, and co-workers). I do have to take a quick timeout and note that I did have the support of both my parents even at times when they didn't fully understand what I was doing and why.
Time In: back to my determination. I was always surrounded by nay-sayers who would always try to shut me down, but I wouldn't let any of their negativity get in my way because I was determined to find someone who could teach me all the things that I needed to know to achieve my goals, and I hope that you don't let anyone get in your way with their negativity to stop you from achieving your goals because if you do it will just show you how undetermined you really are.
So, I challenge you to stand by your dreams, goals, desires, and passions. to be determined to achieve them and fulfill your purpose. Let that burning desire burn hotter than ever before and don't let anyone put it out. If they don't want to achieve their goals that is fine let them be, but don't let anyone stop your determination from achieving yours.
Thank you for reading my blog entry and always remember that you can learn more in my upcoming book QUIT WHILE WORKING: A Real Life GPS To Chart and Fulfill Your Purpose or you can visit me on my website www.QuitWhileWorking.com.
Today was an interesting day. As I keep thinking about my soon to be released book "QUIT WHILE WORKING: A Real Life GPS To Chart and Fulfill Your Purpose." I keep noticing more and more how much people actually have already QUIT WHILE WORKING, let me explain what happened today.
Today I just so happened to need to go into a Sprint store to get some things taken care of with my phone, and while I was waiting patiently for my turn I was observing all the workers there. I was looking at how they were doing their job, their attitude, their customer service, and with how much of a state of urgency they were moving to do their job and help all the customers in there.
Now this is what I noticed, First they were being lazy with their communication with the customers, they did not give them any instruction on how to put their name in the system that determines who is next to speak with an employee their to help them with their problem. The customers actually told the other customers that came in after them because the employees were not doing their job.
Second, not one of the about six employees that were working when I was in the store was in any rush to help the next customer. They all took their bitter sweet time, and their were a lot of people in the store waiting a long time and no customer knew who was next in line nor how many people were in front of them. So, some customers just had enough and left.
Third, even though none of the employees seemed angry, none of them had a good attitude. They all had an I don't care kind of attitude. They didn't
care how fast they were working. They didn't care how long you had to wait. They didn't care who was next in line or to instruct you on how to submit your name to get in line.
It was quite obvious what was going on in all of the employees mind. They QUIT WHILE WORKING! How do I know this you might ask. Well, I can see it through the customer service or lack there of customer service, their attitudes, and how much they care about their jobs.
You see they all already QUIT in their mind WHILE WORKING. They are still doing their job, but mentally they have already checked out and are thinking about something completely different. Like, what they really want to do, or where they would really rather be. And that is what I keep seeing all around America. People that are doing their job, but they don't care anymore about it because they would rather be somewhere else doing what they really desire. And this is what my book QUIT WHILE WORKING: A Real Life GPS To Chart and Fulfill Your Purpose is all about, and what you need to do to prepare yourself to actually QUIT your job and do what you truly enjoy and love to do.

After I finished reading the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki I was filled with excitement, passion, and determination to find someone who would teach me the same things Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad taught him. The first thing I did was to go buy more of his books because I knew I needed to learn more and at this point in my life that was all I knew. It was up to me to go find that person (with God's help of course) that would teach me. If you were like me you also would have noticed that they didn't teach you these things in school, and still don't so it is up to you to go find someone to teach you.
Now, I was only able to get so far from just reading books, there was something inside of me that knew I needed a physical mentor right there in front of me to tell me do this first, this second, this third, and so on. One day in the late summer of 2006 I got a invitation in the mail (probably from something I filled out), asking me to come to one of Donald Trump's seminars in Manhattan. And I was quite impressed with the invitation, and I thought if anybody could teach me about business Donald Trump definitely can. Did I forget to mention that it was said it was FREE too!
So, I called one of my close friends Dwayne Hill to come with me and we went downtown to go here Donald trump speak, so we thought. Little did we know that he would only be there via a DVD prerecorded introduction and that was it. They had some other guy do the whole seminar who I never heard of and still can't remember his name. This guy even gave us wonderful information about business and real estate. It pumped us up and made us think of all the possibilities of how we can make money that was realistic. Me and Dwayne were hooked and we both wanted to know more. Both of us along with everyone in the room wanted to know more and how do we get more excellent information. If you have been to one of these you would know at this point is where they tell you how much it costs to go to the next seminar where they teach you even deeper stuff.
I was determined to know more and knowing that to learn more would cost me some money, I looked at it as an investment, so I gave them my credit card and they signed me up for the next seminar. Luckily for my friend Dwayne he was not in the same position at the time financially to move forward so he didn't give them his credit card (I will explain why later and/or in future entries).
That day I was full with excitement! I truly believed that I was taking wise steps along my journey, but little did I know that that was actually the beginning of all my savings being spent on attending seminars and 3-day weekends. At one point I paid for a seminar with three credit cards because it cost so much that I couldn't put it on one card with what my limits were at the time, and one card was my mothers. In the end I paid almost $10,000.00, and what did I get out of all these seminars, pretty much nothing! I got lots of great information, don't get me wrong, but it was so much and so quick that no matter how smart I was I was only able to remember so much. And the worst thing about getting great information, is that it was not practical and it did not give me a starting point or focal point.
I still had no clue how to use any of the information I received for any of those seminars, workshops, or 3-day weekends. So, my journey continues. When I was a young teenager, I always knew I would be rich one day through business because I knew what was inside of me. But I had absolutely no clue how I was going to do it. My family was just a middle class family and were more wealthy by how many kids my parents had rather than how much money they had in their bank accounts, so I knew I would not inherit it. I had to learn how to make money in this world, and my Dad with all the wonderful things he has taught me in my life did not know how to teach my how to make money other than by working a job. I needed to learn how to make money in business how the rich people in this world do it, and someone had to teach, but who would do it. If my memory serves me correct, in the year 2005 one day when I came home from work right there on my bed was a book given to me by my mother called Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. That book was one of the pivotal books that I read in my life because it started my curiosity to learn and search for someone to teach the same things that Robert Kiyosaki's rich dad taught him.
Fast forward to the year 2007. In late April of 2007 I met a man by the name of Marc A. Grant. I had no clue who I just met, but when he spoke about his mentorship program, I was hooked. It is now July of 2009, and I am still working and learning from him on how to build and grow my business. The biggest misconception that people don't realize is that they need a mentor who will take you by the hand and walk you through all the many steps it takes to start a real business and one that will succeed. Most people don't have the patience to stay with their mentor and learn everything that he has to teach you because most people want to be rich now. And true riches don't come over night, like winning the lottery, which is temporary. True riches or wealth comes from consistent, faithful, patient learning over a long period of time. I heard one guy say it like this, "It took me 20 years to be an over night success."
Most of us have no clue how to succeed in business and attain real wealth and that is why we need a mentor. We all need some one to teach us the things that we don't know. If you were like me and are still looking for someone to teach you just like I found someone to teach me you can contact me by visiting me on my website www.ActivateYourFreedom.com and click on the Contact AYF, INC. tab on the left, fill out the contact form and write a brief description of what kind of help you need and I will connect you with someone on my team that can help you.
