A Real Life Example of "Quit While Working"
Today was an interesting day. As I keep thinking about my soon to be released book "QUIT WHILE WORKING: A Real Life GPS To Chart and Fulfill Your Purpose." I keep noticing more and more how much people actually have already QUIT WHILE WORKING, let me explain what happened today.
Today I just so happened to need to go into a Sprint store to get some things taken care of with my phone, and while I was waiting patiently for my turn I was observing all the workers there. I was looking at how they were doing their job, their attitude, their customer service, and with how much of a state of urgency they were moving to do their job and help all the customers in there.
Now this is what I noticed, First they were being lazy with their communication with the customers, they did not give them any instruction on how to put their name in the system that determines who is next to speak with an employee their to help them with their problem. The customers actually told the other customers that came in after them because the employees were not doing their job.
Second, not one of the about six employees that were working when I was in the store was in any rush to help the next customer. They all took their bitter sweet time, and their were a lot of people in the store waiting a long time and no customer knew who was next in line nor how many people were in front of them. So, some customers just had enough and left.
Third, even though none of the employees seemed angry, none of them had a good attitude. They all had an I don't care kind of attitude. They didn't care how fast they were working. They didn't care how long you had to wait. They didn't care who was next in line or to instruct you on how to submit your name to get in line.
It was quite obvious what was going on in all of the employees mind. They QUIT WHILE WORKING! How do I know this you might ask. Well, I can see it through the customer service or lack there of customer service, their attitudes, and how much they care about their jobs.
You see they all already QUIT in their mind WHILE WORKING. They are still doing their job, but mentally they have already checked out and are thinking about something completely different. Like, what they really want to do, or where they would really rather be. And that is what I keep seeing all around America. People that are doing their job, but they don't care anymore about it because they would rather be somewhere else doing what they really desire. And this is what my book QUIT WHILE WORKING: A Real Life GPS To Chart and Fulfill Your Purpose is all about, and what you need to do to prepare yourself to actually QUIT your job and do what you truly enjoy and love to do.

I truly understand about going to the Sprint store and the workers at the store. Customer service on the phone is worst. I feel for you. I had Sprint many years ago. I heard that since Sprint and Nextel became one company the Sprint customers have been getting the short end of the stick.
However we all have quit our job in our mind at one time or another and have been unable to really quit and follow our dreams. Yes we need a real life GPS to guild us on the road to Quiting Our Jobs For Real. During these financial times we are looking for creating ways to pay our bills as well as free our time to do what we want. We are also looking for things we can do on a small scale everyday that will add up to the bigger goal at the end of the day. I look forward to reading your book.

Your comments about quitting while working was so on target. It put into words so clearly what I have been seeing more and more around us. We are so pressured to do what our family thinks is best for us to do, that we loose touch with our original passion. I look forward to reading your book as your description is inspirational in itself!

Aaron as we watch people in the"service industry" it is amazing to me that employee's only look at the employment as a paycheck. I tell my employer that most of the people we hire now days would really like to stay at home and have us just mail them a check. I did waitress work for 30 years and loved it! When I had a guest unhappy with me one day it devastated me! But I put the numbers to it in a months time I waited in 2,000 guests. If I only had 1 group angry I tried to tell myself that was a good average. It still bothered me. We may not like the jobs we have, but if we could learn to be the very best at what ever we are doing. Then preparing ourselves through classes, and watching for an opportunity to open up. To move on to a place that would make our heart happy.
Tony Robbins says "Live life with a Passion" I would like to make that my mantra to live by.
Thank you for sharing your insights with us.
